Nursing The Mind offers in-person and online counselling sessions for people over 12 years and we specialise in Youth Mental Health. All counselling sessions operate within a Trauma-Informed Therapy framework with a focus on fostering safety and identifying coping strategies that work for you. Whether you have a specific issue to address or seeking general counselling to support your mental health recovery goals, Nursing The Mind aims to provide high quality, therapeutic care. We also believe in collaborative healthcare and will liaise with other health workers in your care team upon request.

*Please note: Nursing The Mind adheres to  Child Safe Principles and has the required Working With Children checks. Jacqui has 15 years working in the Youth Health sector including headspace. 


Qualifications

Jacqui Cousins is a Credentialed Mental Health Nurse and has 15+ years experience working as a Youth Health Nurse within a variety of roles in community health and schools. As a nurse, Jacqui works in an inclusive practice model and supports the human right for people to access healthcare they need, without discrimination. Using a range of therapeutic tools, her approach to counselling is to create a safe space for young people to identify their strengths and interests, and the role they play in their mental health recovery.  


Qualifications: 

Master of Public Health 

Graduate Diploma of Nursing Practice (Mental Health) 

Graduate Diploma of Christian Counselling 


Training includes: 

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Dialectal Behavioural Therapy 

Solution-Focused Therapy


Accreditations: 

Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra)

Australian College of Mental Health Nurses Inc (ACMHN)


Fees

In-person sessions $120 


Online session via Zoom $100


All  appointments are 1 hour. Payments can be made by cash, credit card or direct debit (online sessions). Some concession sessions are available, so please inform us if you think you may be eligible.


Please note: unfortunately our counselling services are not covered by Mental Health Treatment Plans.  The Australian College of Mental Health Nurses is currently lobbying the Federal Government for Credentialed Mental Health Nurses to be added to the list of Medicare providers to improve access to holistic mental health services.
