Nursing The Mind believes education and creating a culture of care are key strategies to improving mental health outcomes in our community. By improving our mental health literacy, we can reduce stigma and create confidence for people to access the health supports they need. NTM can resource you to support their recovery with tailored programs and Mental Health First Aid. Nursing The Mind also provides clinical services, see counselling for details.

Nursing The Mind is committed to advocating for access and equity in the Mental Health System. Sadly, Credentialed Mental Health Nurses (CMHNs) are still locked out of the Better Access Initiative which gives Medicare rebates to help people access mental health professionals and care, regardless of where they live.
As CMHNs are well suited to providing counselling services for people who are impacted by the comorbidity of physical and mental health problems, the lack of recognition of our specialist skills is not equitable. People managing chronic illnesses that impact their mental health should have access to skilled clinicians who have insight and experience into their presenting needs. CMHNs are also well suited to assist people with navigating the broader health sector.
Nursing The Mind supports the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses petition advocating for the right for Credentialed Mental Health Nurses to be listed as a Medicare provider. We welcome your support in signing the petition and raising this with your local State and Federal MPs.
